Paddy Field Preparation for Sowing | Black Rice field Preparation for Sowing. Field is ploughed for 2-3 times and left it for 5-7 days for soil to decompose. Then unwanted straw, paddy roots, grass roots are removed from the field.
To have proper germination of the seeds, we soaked the seed for 12-18 hrs, then heated them for 12-14 hrs under the straw and continued this process until the germination is complete. This process needs very carefull observation and experimentation according to the improvements in the growth of germination.
To initiate the project, we search for the best Black Rice seed. And, we found two variety of Black Rice seed: i) Chak-Hao - a Manipuri ancient, premium seed ii) Black-75 seed.
We have decided to cultivate black rice due to inadequate food quality and low availability in the market. The weather here has helped us to take up this project as it is suitable for this cultivation. Organic farming methodology has been adopted to maintain the nutritional value of the Black Rice.
